All Australian passport applications lodged overseas must be lodged in person at an Australian diplomatic mission, the Australian Embassy in Rabat, and additional overseas fees apply.
To apply for a passport
1. Complete your form online at www.passports.gov.au
2. Print the completed application form, sign within the signature box and date
3. Obtain two passport photos (see photo requirements at https://www.passports.gov.au )
4. Book your appointment online via this website.
5. Bring your signed form, photos, fee payment, most recently issued passport and any other necessary original documentation (as listed on the application form) to your appointment.

Please note that child applications should be lodged in person by a parent or person with parental responsibility for the child. The parent or person lodging the application is not required to be an Australian citizen, but will need to bring photographic proof of their own identity to the appointment. If you intend to get married in Morocco, you need to obtain the following documents from the Australian Embassy in Rabat and submit them to the local authorities:
1- a ‘’Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage’’ and
2- an ‘’Attestation of Nationality’’
The Australian Embassy in Rabat can issue these two above documents upon presentation of:
- A completed application of the “Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage”
- Your Australian passport (for the Australian citizen)
- A copy of your future spouse’s passport (for the non Australian citizen)
- A credit card that can make international payments.

Legalisation of signatures and seals on documents happens in two ways, through the affixing of an apostille – attesting to the validity of a signature/seal – used when documents are destined for use in Hague (Apostille) Convention countries or through a chain of authentications of signature sand/or seals (used when documents are destined for use in non-Apostille Convention countries.
Australian embassy consular officers can also certify photocopies of documents in English, confirming that the photocopy is a true copy of a document sighted. It is an Australian requirement that you bring the original(s) document(s) to be photocopied.

Witnessing the signature on a Power of Attorney or other documents

Various Australian laws often require your signature on a document be witnessed by an eligible witness, such as: Solicitors, Justices of the Peace, and other authorised witnesses perform such functions within Australia. Many laws allow consular officers at Australian diplomatic and consular missions overseas to perform this service.
The Australian Consular Officers who perform this service do so under the Consular Fees Act 1955 and are required to charge a fee.
It is up to you to check the who would be an eligible witness for your document before taking the appointment with the Embassy for witnessing.
It is your responsibility to present the document to be witnessed in the correct form and to provide the correct instructions for witnessing.
